‘Stuff the Bus’, Help a Neighbor

New Castle, PA (March 8, 2014) — This Spring, area agencies, businesses and schools will be coming together to develop a paper pantry. A paper pantry including items that are not currently or widely accessible to those in need through food pantries, the SNAP program, WIC services, or other forms of assistance. In identifying this gap, the Council of Community Services and Lawrence County Community Action Partnership’s (LCCAP) Global Youth Service Day initiative are developing a collaborative project called ‘Stuff the Bus’.

Area businesses, organizations, clubs, school groups, etc. will have the opportunity to add to the ‘Stuff the Bus’ concept in April, when items will be collected. If members from the community want to pitch in, drop-off sites also include BC3 Lawrence Crossing in Union and Patches Place downtown New Castle.

The Council of Community Services is a collaborative group of local agencies who seek to improve communication and cooperation. The group is designed as a resource for community planning and action to address health and human needs.

More information about the Council of Community Services and its activities is available at www.LCCommunityServices.org

As a GYSD lead agency for the 8th consecutive year, LCCAP invests in projects that allow the youth to become leaders and change makers within our community. As a result, we organize community service projects and highlight those contributions the young people have made in the areas where they live. LCCAP would like to highlight Westminster College’s Greek Life for their upcoming “Service Drive” to support efforts of this Paper Pantry and Summer Food Service Sites. As well as CAREERS Club for hosting paper product drives at their home school districts.
