Summer Food Service Program (SFSP)

As a Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) sponsor, Lawrence County Social Services, Inc. (LCSS) was just awarded $7,081to expand our SFSP. The funding was granted by The Specialty Food Foundation. “The Specialty Food Foundation develops and supports tangible and lasting solutions to hunger and food recovery, amplifying the innovation and passion of the specialty food community.”
Lawrence County Social Services, Inc. (LCSS) is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania by eliminating and preventing the causes and effects of poverty by mobilizing and directing resources to assist, educate and promote self-sufficiency. LCSS’s SFSP was established to ensure that low-income children continue to receive nutritious meals when school is not in session. Free meals, that meet Federal nutrition guidelines, are provided to children at approved SFSP sites in areas with significant concentrations of low-income children. The SFSP operates during primarily in the summer months – from June through August

LCSS, The Specialty Food Foundation, along with our community and faith-based partners can help trudge through this battle of hunger in our community through the SFSP.
