Pennsylvania Home Performance Conference and Trade Show –
Sept. 30 – Oct. 1, 2019 , the Department of Healthy Homes/Weatherization from Lawrence County Social Services, Inc. (LCSS) attended the Pennsylvania Home Performance Conference and Trade Show in State College, PA. This training brought together various weatherization professionals across the commonwealth to network, listen in on many educational breakout sessions, and compete in 5 different hands-on crew competitions that were specifically tailored to the state of Pennsylvania.
Weatherization and Healthy Homes work increases energy efficiency in homes by reducing energy costs and increasing comfort while safeguarding health and safety. Some of the work available to low-income residents of Lawrence County includes: insulation, basement air sealing, and window and door treatments.
LCSS’s Weatherization team came home with awards in all five competitions!! Check out the picture of plaques and awards below!
- Dense Pack – Air-tight insulation in a wall cavity to reduce energy costs – 1st place
- Air Sealing – Building a box out of drywall to fit over a recessed can light in an attic – 1st place
- Lead Safe – Setting up proper containment to replace a window – 2nd place
- Glass Cutting – Cutting a single pane piece of glass to fit into a wooden window frame – 2nd place
- Client File Review – Review of a Weatherization client file for correctness and accuracy – 3rd place
