Lawrence County Community Action Partnership (LCCAP) is excited to announce the official opening of the Exploration and Innovation Station on its Frew Mill Campus. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to inspire creativity and learning through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) initiatives for both children and adults. The Exploration and Innovation Station features three distinct wings, each tailored to foster exploration and innovation. The Agriculture and Nutrition Wing includes a demonstration kitchen that opens to an outdoor garden and greenhouse, promoting hands-on learning about nutrition and sustainability. It also houses a hydroponics lab equipped with 24 grow towers, supporting the growth of over 680 plants.
The Art Wing offers a vibrant creative space with a ceramics studio complete with pottery wheels and a kiln, as well as a large room filled with mixed media art supplies. This wing features two Cricut design studios, a 3-in-1 heat press, sewing machines, and woodworking tools to support diverse artistic expression. The STEM Wing serves as a dedicated maker space filled with general manipulatives, 3-D printers, drones, Finch robots, and a computer lab, encouraging hands-on experimentation and learning. Each area is designed for versatility, easily transforming into meeting spaces for various gatherings.
The Exploration and Innovation Station is available for rent in its entirety or by individual wing, making it an ideal venue for youth programs, organizational meetings, community events, and birthday parties. Community members are encouraged to register for LCCAP-hosted events via the website.
