The CARES Act and American Rescue Plans created a program called the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) to address the emergency housing needs of people affected due to or during the COVID 19 Pandemic. LCCAP administered the program locally on behalf of Lawrence County. The program began operations of March of 2021 and saw unprecedented demand for services. In 25 months, LCCAP’s Housing Department enrolled 1,716 household in the ERAP program and distributed over $7.3 Million dollars to assist Lawrence County residents in maintaining their utility services and rental housing. Although all funds are distributed at this time, households who need assistance with rental housing may still reach out to the Housing Department to be screened for other programming and resources. The Housing Department can be reached by calling 724-658-7258, walking in to our office at 241 W Grant St during normal business hours, or by completing a kiosk entry HERE.
