We are proud of the progress we are able to make with the children and families that we serve and are working hard this year to help another group of children increase their school readiness for kindergarten!

C.A.R.E.E.R.S. Club Senior Recognition Dinner

On the Evening of May 15, 2014, LCCAP C.A.R.E.E.R.S. Club honored their seniors with a recognition dinner. The evening was highlighted by State Representative Chris Sainato, who spoke to the youth about their career journey, the importance of building a good foundation, and the strength to learn from your failures, reminding them that “the steeper road gets you to the top the fastest!”

Stuff the Bus

On Saturday, April 12th during Global Youth Service Day weekend, LCCAP staff and CAREERS Club students joined Westminster College sonorities and fraternities “Stuff the Bus” event and successfully collected 7,836 donated items to support the development of a Paper Pantry for local residents! Over 585 community volunteers participated with the purchasing, collection and/or sorting of these donated items! Dollar stores were sold out of cleaning and paper products from across both Lawrence and Mercer County!

‘Stuff the Bus’, Help a Neighbor

New Castle, PA (March 8, 2014) — This Spring, area agencies, businesses and schools will be coming together to develop a paper pantry. A paper pantry including items that are not currently or widely accessible to those in need through food pantries, the SNAP program, WIC services, or other forms of assistance. In identifying this gap, the Council of Community Services and Lawrence County Community Action Partnership’s (LCCAP) Global Youth Service Day initiative are developing a collaborative project called ‘Stuff the Bus’.

Empty Bowls Top Chef

17 year old Michael Rodriguez, a Neshannock High School student, with the support of Lawrence County Community Action Partnership (LCCAP) was awarded a $500.00 scholarship from the Sodexo Foundation for proposal “Top Chef”!

Sodexo Foundation rewards and recognizes students who are driving awareness and mobilizing youth to be catalysts for innovative models and solutions to eliminate hunger in America.

LCCAP is a lead agency of “Global Youth Service Day” (GYSD) as well as a sponsor for the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).

Computer based GED Testing

GED Testing On Computer
Attention GED® test-takers: Adults who take the GED® test on computer are scoring higher and finishing faster. In fact, 88% of people passed the GED® test on computer compared to 71% for those who tested on paper.

Art Show Provides a Look into the Creative Minds of Lawrence County Preschool Students

New Castle, PA (11/15/2012) - The ballroom gallery of the Hoyt Center for the Arts was transformed during the month of October into a magnificent showcase of artwork created by preschoolers from Lawrence County. This exhibit was the result of a partnership between the Hoyt Center, the Lawrence County Early Learning Task Force and early learning providers across the county to celebrate PA’s Promise for Children and National Arts & Humanities month during the month of October.
