The Department of Healthy Homes was created on July 1, 2008 to better enhance our ability to service the many regional requests for assistance with community based rehabilitation and lead hazard control programs.

The Construction Division of the Housing Department along with the Employment & Education Department has developed and begun implementing the "Youth Works Program." The program involves 4 students that will be working along side John Bosela, ACCESS Lawrence County Program Carpenter. They will be learning vocational skills such as the construction of permanent and temporary ramps, and containment fences. Youth Works began May 3, 2006 and will continue through November 1, 2006. Each student is receiving a stipend for participation. The students will also have the opportunity to conduct career exploration and have one-on-one time with staff for individualized issues.
